Medicare Insurance Basics
MEDICARE is a Federal Health Insurance Program administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). The Florentino Agency, LLC is where I make the process understandable and easy to maneuver.
So, when are you eligible for Original Medicare? Generally, you are eligible for Original Medicare if:
- You are a US Citizen or Lawfully Present Resident of the US
- You are 65 years and older or you are under 65 with certain medical conditions
If you are unsure or have questions, just ask me.

Requirements for Medicare Part A
You can get Part A at age 65 without having to pay a premium if:
- You already received retirement benefits from Social Security or the Railroad Retirement Board or have ESRD & meet certain requirements
- You are eligible to get Social Security or Railroad Retirement benefits but have not yet filed for them
- You or your spouse worked for at least 10 years in a job where Medicare taxes were paid
You can also purchase, at a cost, Part A, if you don’t meet these requirements.
Part A covers items such as inpatient hospital care, skilled nursing facilities, hospice care, and home health care.

Medicare Part B - Medical
Medicare Part B is for medical coverage such as doctor visits. Below is a short list of coverage.
- Doctor Visits
- Outpatient Care
- Some Home Health Care
- Durable Medical Equipment (like wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds and other equipment)
- Many Preventive Services (like health screenings, vaccines, and yearly Wellness visits)
Things to remember: You pay a monthly premium with an annual deductible. After you meet that deductible, you pay 20% of the Medicare-Approved amount.
Medicare Part C
Part C coverage is available if you already have Part A and Part B.
- In most cases, you’ll need to use health care providers who participate in the plan’s network.
- These plans set a limit on what you’ll have to pay out-of-pocket each year for covered services.
- You must use the card from your Medicare Advantage Plan to get your Medicare-covered services.
- Keep your red, white, and blue Medicare ID card in a safe place.
- Some Medicare Advantage Plans include drug coverage (Part D).

Medicare Part D - Prescription
Medicare Part D plans provide beneficiaries with privately managed, federally approved prescription drug coverage. Medicare Part A and B don’t offer prescription drug coverage, so Part D helps.
There is a lot to cover, and it may sound difficult, but my intention is to put you completely at ease. I break it all down in super easy terms and make it very easy to follow. Call today to get started.
